Midwestern farmers, ranchers wonder how long they’ll be under water
Hundreds of thousands of farm
and ranch acres are under water
across the Midwest where heavy
spring, and now summer, rains
and mountain snowpack are causing
some of the worst flooding
from the overflowing Missouri
River in more than a decade.
Though thousands of miles
separate them, growers in the
Dakotas, Minnesota, Nebraska,
Iowa, northern Missouri and
other parts of the Midwest have
some of the same concerns as
flooded producers much further
south in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi
and elsewhere. Among
their biggest worry is how long
the water will be around.
